Adur's considered approach keeps council tax increase below 19p a week

We will continue our careful and considered approach, to ensure we not only balance the books but invest in projects for the community.
The Adur charge - the share of council tax payable to us - will increase by less than 19p a week for the average home over the next 12 months after the Full Council approved the budget for 2024/25 yesterday.
The average Band D Adur charge will be £333.72 for the year - the equivalent of just £6.42 per week.
We are committed to taking care of our precious environment, with investment in pioneering projects to restore the Adur Valley estuary and our stretch of sea into havens for wildlife and biodiversity, protection for the greenbelt and work to help more people to use environmentally-friendly ways to move around the district.
We're developing our spaces for the community, including a new sports pavilion for Buckingham Park in Shoreham, a revitalised Shadwells Road play area in Lancing and improved sports facilities at Southwick.
We will work to grow the district's economy over the next 12 months by supporting local businesses and investing in our town and village centres.
And we will continue to build much-needed new council homes for Adur people who need them, while spending more than £10m modernising and improving its Adur Homes properties, including new double-glazing, kitchens and bathrooms, with none of it paid for from council tax.
Cllr Neil Parkin, the leader of Adur District Council, said:

“I'm delighted that the budget was last night agreed unanimously by the council.
“The road before us is not straightforward, but through prudent planning and considered decision-making we will protect services now and for the future, helping our communities to thrive, not just survive.”
